Skincare + Lobster: How a skin-soothing protein in lobster was discovered, and how new Maine skincare brand Marin is bringing it into the world
By Patrick Breeding, Co-Founder of Dermarus
Lobster is best known as a Maine delicacy, but as co-founder at Dermarus, UMaine grad and biotech entrepreneur Patrick Breeding is working to identify and validate uses for lobster within the skincare and biomedical industries. Dermarus creates active skincare ingredients from sustainable marine sources, and their brand Marin incorporates them into products for people with dry, angry skin.
In his Tech Talk, Patrick will give the audience a behind-the-scenes look at how research and serendipity can become a consumer product on the shelf, from discovery to customer validation and branding. He’ll also share the unique healing properties of lobster, the serendipity of finding them, the thought process behind commercializing value-added products, and talk about their flagship Soothing Hydration Cream that will be available early this summer.
